“Denny Spencer’s golf novel certainly held my interest from
start to finish. I felt that his narrative captured the flavor and atmosphere
of the professional game. A very good read.”
— Arnold Palmer, golf legend
and winner of eight major championships
“If you think an accomplished golfer writing about golf restricts the size of
his audience, take a mulligan and think again. Spencer uses golf as a conduit
to tell an extremely inspiring tale of human emotion, relationships and
remarkable motivation that will stimulate one and all.”
— Dave Woolford, veteran
sportswriter - Toledo Blade, winner of 35 state and national writing awards
“In Listening for the Bugles, Denny Spencer draws upon his heart of a
competitive golfer and the soul of a loving father. He steps beyond those with
similar attributes by offering the reader a true insight into the merger of
these traits. It translates into a great read. I couldn’t wait to learn
how JR played in the US Open Championship. You’ll want to know as well.”
— Jack O’ Leary, four-time
“Magazine Writer of the Year”, International Network of Golf
“Fabulously intriguing story. I couldn’t put the book down until I finished.”

golf. Having known and respected the
author for so many years, the storyline really hit home. I simply couldn’t put
it down ... great writing does that.”
— Pat Lindsey, veteran PGA
Tour player, winner of the 1982 BC Open
“I love everything about the game of golf, but most especially the
deep-rooted relationships it brings to one’s life. Listening for the Bugles
captures it all. I am already looking forward to the sequel.”
— Cord Dombrowski, owner of
the #1 rated golf course in Missouri, The Dalhousie Golf Club
