Cold Summer Wind II

20 Years of Canoe Camping North of 60

by Clayton Klein

Bring your paddle and travel to some of Canada’s most remote lakes and rivers. As we move along you will experience the true wilderness, learning about trapping and the history of the fur trade in the early years of the twentieth century. Discover rapids, wildlife, the Arctic Circle, and unbelievable scenery as you hitch a ride on these extraordinary journeys.

Join Clayton, Darrell, and Debbie Klein as they explore Canada’s vast wilderness and share sights few others will ever see.

Cold Summer Wind II offers readers a glimpse at North America’s least accessible areas—the geography, wildlife, history, and the remarkable people who call it home.

About the Author

This avid explorer as paddled and portaged more than 7500 miles of Canada’s Arctic and Subarctic waterways. An active outdoorsman, he has walked more than 40,000 miles during the past 34 years.

Clayton founded Klein Fertilizer Company in 1951 and operated it for 30 years before turning the management over to his son. Finding retirement too quiet, he started Wilderness Adventure Books, a publishing company specializing in Great Lakes titles. After retiring from publishing in 1992, he founded Klein’s Booklein, a wholesale book business serving the Great Lakes.

He lives on a farm near Fowlerville, Michigan, in the house in which he was born. When he’s not busy walking and canoeing, Clate keeps busy writing, learning how to operate a computer, and tending his garden, fruit trees, and yard.
